London-Budapest, 14th April – RETN became the first international provider to join the recently launched BIX reseller program. This partnership enables RETN to provide remote peering at this leading Hungarian IXP to its clients in different regions covered by RETN’s pan-European network.
The BIX platform has 3 locations in Budapest offering peering services to local and international companies. At the moment there are more than 50 members connected to BIX, including the world’s IT giants such as Google and Microsoft. RETN, BIX’s member since 2009, has a dedicated reseller port to provide Remote IX service to this IXP.
“By partnering with BIX, the biggest IXP in Hungary, we are opening new geographical possibilities for peering to our customers. Wholesale and Enterprise customers who seek better connectivity in the region can seamlessly connect to BIX from any RETN PoP. By bringing remote peers closer to each other at BIX, we enable them to benefit from peering in Hungary, optimising their traffic and reducing overheads,” said Tony O’Sullivan, Chief Operating Officer at RETN.
“BIX is delighted to cooperate with RETN, which has already established successful relationships with a number of major international IXPs and proved to be a valuable remote peering provider. RETN’s network reach and interconnections with other networks will certainly add additional value to further development of BIX, and we hope that our partnership will be mutually beneficial. We have already received high interest in remote connections and are expecting to have our first new peers soon,” stated János Angeli, Chairman of the BIX Committee.
