RETN completes the shortest fibre connection between Hamburg and Frankfurt

Frankfurt, 04 October 2017 – RETN has recently launched a new DWDM-based route connecting Frankfurt (Interxion) to Hamburg (Global Connect). At 588.7 kilometres (366 miles), this route creates the shortest fibre connection between the two cities in Western Germany and is seamlessly linked to RETN’s transboundary backbone.

According to Mario Kohl, Managing Director of RETN GmbH, this is another big step in RETN’s network development within the past 2 years of RETN’s business activity in DACH region: “The new route supports Wavelengths Transport (up to 100G capacity), IP VPN (Layer 2 and 3) and IP Transit services to fulfill the huge demand of our new and existing customers. The customers reaching Frankfurt from the Nordics region will also benefit from this unique route”.

Denis Makarchuk, CTO at RETN GmbH, added: “Frankfurt-Hamburg route complements existing local and cross-border routes in Germany and 14 onnet PoPs deployed across RETN’s network in the region. In terms of technical specifications this route offers n x 100G bandwidth and 7 ms RTD to provide our customers with fast, secure and reliable data transport and connectivity services”.
